Old Town and Civic Park host summer festivals

The Fort Collins summer festival lineup includes everything from an open-air french artisan market, a hotrod and vintage car show, to an appearance by Grammy award winner Melissa Etheridge at the August NewWestFest.

A summer of festivals 

In the summer in Fort Collins, outdoors is “in.” Old Town blooms green and jumbo containers of pansies dot street corners. The downtown’s brick and sandstone buildings become a backdrop for a lively stream of people. 

Fort Collins then and now

Originally a military fort installed to protect the Cherokee Trail and Overland Stage from attack, Fort Collins is now a university town of  137,000 with a thriving local music circuit, several microbreweries, and a historic downtown shopping district.

Fort Collins hosts a number of large festivals -- there are two scheduled for this weekend, one in Civic Center Park and the other in Old Town Square.

French Nest Open Air Market

The French Nest Open Air Market is Fort Collins’ first open-air vintage, antique, and artisan market. The market will continue every second Saturday between July and October (July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, and Oct. 10). 

2nd Annual Fort Collins Museum Indian Market

Saturday, May 16
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Old Town Square

CSU’s Ram Nation Drum Group will give the welcome performance. Over 25 fine art and folk art vendors, paintings, native arts, jewelry, regional and out- of-state bands playing contemporary and traditional Native American music, hands on games and art experiences for kids, and Native American history from throughout the region. 

Realities Motorcycle Ride and Charity Poker Run

Old Town Square and beyond 

Live music all day, discounts to Colorado Rockies Bikefest activities, Joker’s Beer Garden and vendors, face painting and children’s activities, chance to enter to win 42” flat screen TV from my HDTV. 

Old Town Car Show

Saturday, June 13
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Old Town Square, Mountain Avenue and Walnut Street

Free for spectators. Hotrods, vintage cars, classic trucks on display and live music. The variety of cars & trucks will include custom cars, street rods, fat fender street rods, muscle cars, classic motorcycles, classic cars and classic truck.

20th Annual Colorado Brewfest

Saturday, June 27 and
Sunday, June 28
11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Downtown Fort Collins 

Over 50 Colorado beers will be featured and live music by local, Colorado bands. Admission is $10 for a 2-day Saturday/Sunday pass and $6 for Sunday only pass. All beer tokens $2. 

4th of July

Kickoff in Old Town Square
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

There will be live music, a beer garden and traditional American fun. Free and open to the public.  

Kickoff in Civic Center Park
215 S. Mason
11 a.m.  

Civic Center activities include music, gymnastics, food, snocones, and hotdogs. Also includes a petting zoon, craft booths, bounce castles, and hands on games
Free and open to the public.  

Fireworks display 

Held in City Park, 1599 City Park Drive, the fireworks show begins at 9:35 p.m. Free and open to the public. The Fort Collins Symphony will be playing as the fireworks begin.

A Fort Collins Jazz Experience

Thursday, July 9 through
Saturday, July 11 

A Fort Collins Jazz Experience is a full jazz weekend with multiple stages and continuous jazz jams from local and regional musicians. There will be films about jazz, jazz art, educational sessions for students, renowned jazz historian, and a special ticketed national headliner concert. Details, prices, and locations vary based on each event.

Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest

Sunday, August 16
Old Town Square 

Fort Collins’ largest community festival, Bohemian nights will provide music all weekend long with nearly 50 Colorado bands and 2 national headliners. Free to the public.  Melissa Etheridge will be on the main stage on August 15.

Academy Award and two-time Grammy Award winner Melissa Etheridge will headline the Mountain Avenue main stage at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night, August 15.

Ozomatli, Latin Grammy, two time Billboard Latin, and two-time Grammy Award winner Ozomatli will headline the Mountain Avenue main stage at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, August 16.
