Working at CSU

Donovan, Jarnot take on new roles in student affairs

July 30, 2013

Jody DonovanJody Donovan, dean of students and executive director of Parent and Family Programs, has been named assistant vice president/dean of students for the Division of Student Affairs. Kacee Collard Jarnot, assistant director of Parent and Family Programs, also has been promoted to director of Parent and Family Programs.

At universities across the country, and especially at larger universities, it is increasingly common for the dean of students to also serve in the assistant or associate vice president role. This dual title signifies the importance of working with student conduct, student crisis, and student development issues in ways that cut across multiple areas of the campus. The addition of the assistant vice president title acknowledges the work performed across the Division of Student Affairs as well as in collaboration with other divisions on university-level matters.

Jody Donovan

Jody Donovan’s work within the division and across the university has been consistent with these multidimensional responsibilities. She is an ex-officio member of the Faculty Council Committee on Teaching and Learning and member of numerous other long-term and short- term university committees. She has published and has presented both nationally and internationally on student development theory and practice. Recently, she was chosen to represent the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) in presenting student development theory to higher education faculty and staff in China. She represents the vice president for Student Affairs and the division in many meetings and conversations.Kacee Collard Jarnot

“Donovan’s work as the dean and the executive director of Parent and Family Programs has been exemplary,” said Blanche Hughes, vice president for the Division of Student Affairs. “She will continue to supervise Parent and Family Programs, Conflict Resolution and Student Conduct Services, Student Case Management, the Career Center, Off-Campus Life, Adult Learner and Veteran Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Legal Services, and assist with the leadership and coordination of Ram Welcome. I am pleased to be able to add the assistant vice president title to her position.”

Kacee Collard Jarnot

Kacee Collard Jarnot will take on greater responsibilities for parent and family programming as director of Parent and Family Programs.

“Kacee has done a remarkable job working with CSU’s parents and families over the past five years and is ready to take on more leadership with this program,” said Hughes.

In her new role, she will continue developing the nationally recognized program.

“I am appreciative of both Jody’s and Kacee’s willingness to take on more responsibility and leadership for the Division and the University,” said Hughes.
