Mason Street Corridor construction impacts Northeastern corner of campus

September 12, 2012

Construction on the Mason Corridor project continues on campus with a storm drain installation work planned from Sept. 17 through Oct. 3.

More information >>>>The first phase of the installation will begin on the north end of campus and will impact pedestrian traffic across the railroad tracks, vehicle traffic on Old Main, and the access drive and some parking directly west of the railroad tracks behind the following buildings:

  • Heat Plant
  • Gibbons
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Industrial Sciences

Old Main Drive also will be closed for about three days during this schedule, and those dates are yet to be determined.

The Occupational Therapy parking lot (lot #354) and Occupational Therapy annex parking lot (lot #348) will be closed for several daysduring construction. The small parking lot and service drive directly east of Industrial Sciences also will be closed. These parking lots will be open as soon as possible, and accessible from the south, as the project progresses.

The pedestrian crossing of the railroad tracks at Old Main and behind Occupational Therapy will be closed.  The main pedestrian detour will be through the tunnel south of the Heat Plant building, directly behind Johnson Hall.

The Mason Corridor project consists of the Mason Trail, economic redevelopment in the heart of Fort Collins and MAX bus rapid transit service. MAX will link major destinations and activity centers along the Mason Corridor including downtown, Colorado State University, Foothills Mall, and South College retail areas. MAX will operate nearly twice as fast as auto travel along College Avenue, and provide high frequency service every 10 minutes. Future regional transit connections will link to MAX at the new South Transit Center.
