Working at CSU

Nominate an employee for a Bright Spot Employee award

February 23, 2012

The Organizational Development, Learning and Assessment (ODLA) Team in the Vice President for Research is pleased to announce that nominations for the CSU Bright Spot Employee Recognition Award are now being received.

The Bright Spot Employee Recognition Award seeks to recognize research employees whose work is truly amazing to others! The award is inspired by Derek Sivers, creative entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and musician (video).

We believe the people who work in the research community are exceptional in the work they do. However, there are employees that can be easily identified as being a bright spot. These employees have discovered an easy or unique solution for an everyday problem, or situation.

By doing things differently, they contribute to higher productivity, cost-efficiency, service and excellence. More importantly, their methods can be emulated by others that can result in effective, positive changes in the way we all do business or tackle problems that have not been easily resolved. We hope you will make every effort to nominate deserving employees.

A minimum of 12 individuals will be recognized this year; however, this is subject to change based on the number of nominations received. Each award recipient will receive a special memento and recognition. Nomination materials become part of the ODLA files and can roll forward to the following quarter and year.

Guidelines for submitting nominations

Nominations are encouraged from everyone for all those who work in the research community (at all unit, department, and college levels) including but not limited to investigators, co-PIs, lab technicians, and pre and post award support staff.

Be specific in your nomination - why do you think this person should be recognized? What makes them a Bright Spot employee? Again, we are looking for those employees who have discovered new ways of doing things but more importantly, these new ways can be emulated by others!

Nominations will be reviewed quarterly (March 9, June 8, Sept. 14 and Dec. 14) with the first awards to be made in April 2012 – a month traditionally recognized as Employee Recognition Month. Please help us honor these deserving employees.
