Jessica Mitchell, a junior biology major, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars for exemplified leadership and excellence through academic achievement.
Jessica Mitchell has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship for exemplified leadership and excellence through academic achievement. Mitchell received the award after being inducted into a national honors organization, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS).
Mitchell is a junior majoring in Biology.
The Induction Recognition Award is an annual scholarship awarded to active and engaged members of NSCS. Recipients of the award are members who were inducted to the Society from September 2009 to March 2010.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jessica to the Society and honor her commitment to academic excellence with this scholarship,” said Cynthia Uguru, Scholarships Manger. “I’m looking forward to working with Jessica to make this year the greatest year at NSCS!”
The CSU chapter was founded in 2000. This year’s new chapter members were inducted to the Society on September 19 at 2 p.m. in Kerckhoff Grand Salon.
Induction ceremonies take place at the beginning of each school year and are organized by the chapter president and officers. Inductions typically include guest speakers as well as the induction of Distinguished Members as well as new inductees into the Society.
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation's only interdisciplinary honors organization to invite first- and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.
NSCS awards more in undergraduate scholarship dollars to than any other honor society nationwide. NSCS offers members exclusive access to scholarships, career resources, and leadership and networking opportunities. NSCS has more than 750,000 members and more than 270 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
