Professional networking events help tackle recession

July 7, 2009

Colorado State University Alumni Association has been taking recent unemployment news to heart and offering a series of professional networking events for Denver alumni.

This summer the Colorado State University Alumni Association is offering the CSU Career Series and the CSU Schmooze at Snooze networking breakfast, a series of professional networking events for Denver alumni.

The July 8 CSU Career Series topic, "Surviving the Pink Slip," will be held 6-8 p.m. at the CSU Denver Office, 410 17th Street, Suite 1400.

Lifelong learning and engagement

“With a total of 14.7 million people unemployed in June, the CSU Alumni Association, through our Denver Ram Network, feels it’s our role to bring continued value to alumni through these types of lifelong learning and engagement opportunities,” said Paul Wolansky, senior director of alumni relations in Denver.

“I highly recommend optimizing the power of the CSU alumni network in Denver and revisiting a career change through education,” says Amanda Thompson, a recruiter for Career Builder and a CSU alumna. “Because of the economic downturn, refreshing your job search to align to today’s job economy will likely garner more opportunities.”

Events continue through summer and throughout the year

Several events have either sold out or have been attracting large crowds; one event brought in 300 people. CSU’s Denver networking events will continue to take place this summer, followed by other events throughout the year.
