Ask Cam

You want Cam to be the Provost?

October 9, 2009

Question:

"Cam: I am trying to gauge your possible interest in the Provost/Executive Vice President."

Cam's response:

Well, I do wear a lot of hats around here. (That is a metaphor, of course, because I can't really wear any hat with these magnificent horns upon my noggin -- but you get the idea.)

First, let me provide a little bit of background here: CSU announced it will conduct a full search for the Provost/Executive Vice President position. More about that here. The Provost is the chief academic officer at a university. Here at CSU, the Provost's Office oversees all the colleges, administrative operations like student services and facilities, and computer systems.

It's a big job, and no doubt these hooves would be dancing with delight if CSU were to entrust me with the duties. However, this position requires that one must be a tenured professor with a Ph.D. While I hold a masters in Crowd Rousing (concentration in public exuberance) I have yet to obtain my terminal degree. Also, I'm tenured only as a mascot, not as a professor.

So, while we don't know yet who the next Provost will be, we can be sure that it will not be this fair mascot.

Have a buttin' good time,
Cam
