Presentations to focus on today's food system

The food system will be the focus of two presentations on April 2 at Colorado State University.

Terry Fleck, executive director of the Center for Food Integrity.Terry Fleck, executive director of the Center for Food Integrity, will visit campus to discuss building consumer trust in today’s food system, and also how the food system can be sustainable, while meeting the needs of our growing population.

Presentations

• “Bridging the Ag Gap: Building Consumer Trust,” beginning at 12:30 p.m. April 2 in the Morgan Library Event Hall. A pizza lunch for CSU College of Agricultural Sciences students, faculty and staff will precede the presentation, which is designed primarily for the campus community.

• “What’s your Food Attitude?” beginning at 7 p.m. April 2 in the Plant Sciences Building Auditorium, room C101. This public presentation will evaluate ethical and sustainable food production practices and will include a question-and-answer session.

Admission to both events is free.

Promoting professional agricultural education

Fleck is visiting at the invitation of Alpha Tau Alpha, a student organization that promotes professional agricultural education and is housed in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

As executive director of the Center for Food Integrity, Fleck helps direct operations for the nonprofit that seeks to understand consumer interest in and concerns about food. In addition to conducting research into consumer attitudes, the Center for Food Integrity provides educational programs that ultimately help ensure a sustainable food supply reflecting societal values.

The Center for Food Integrity, based near Kansas City, Mo., is a nonprofit established to build consumer trust and confidence in the today’s food system. Members represent every segment of the food system, and are committed to providing accurate information and addressing important issues among all food system stakeholders.
