CSU earned top awards this week for two innovative communications campaigns that made a difference to thousands of Coloradans.
Colorado State’s strategic communications that supported successful efforts to run the largest vaccine clinic in the state’s history, where more than 11,000 students and campus community members received meningococcal vaccinations, earned the university a Gold Pick Award from the Public Relations Society of America's Colorado Chapter.
In addition, CSU’s communications support of the launch of CSU’s Commitment to Colorado, a unique program created to assure that qualified middle- and lower-income Colorado students can afford an education at a top research university, earned the university a second Gold Pick.
A PRSA award entry judge commented about CSU’s efforts stating, “Goals were achieved and lives saved. Great job!” Another added, “Excellent goals and outstanding results. Great use of all available communications opportunities…” A third judge commented, “Congratulations on your amazing results!”
By earning two Gold Picks in this year’s annual PRSA awards, the CSU External Relations Department places the university’s communications successes among the best businesses and organizations in the region, outpacing any other educational institution and trailing only two large Denver PR agencies.
“These awards demonstrate the importance of strategic communication for achieving institutional goals and priorities,” said Tom Milligan, CSU’s Vice President for External Relations. “It is always nice to be recognized among peers and communications experts for the work done by our great team of professionals at Colorado State.”
Colorado State’s Division of External Relations is the university’s communications arm and provides professional services including marketing, public relations, media and community relations, social media, design, publications, photography, internal communications, Web, TV and video for the university community.
External Relations has received regional and national recognition for its communications efforts from a variety of professional organizations including the League of American Communications Professionals, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, Higher Education Marketing Awards, Service Industry Advertising Awards, Public Relations Society of America, PR News and others.
