Everyday Hero Marlina Bolan

Marlina Bolan, an administrative assistant in Facilities Management, is the latest Classified Personnel Council Everyday Hero.

Marlina Bolan works in the Facilities Management Custodial Office.

Marlina was nominated by Sheela Backen in Facilities Management. Here is what Sheela had to say about Marlina:

“It is my pleasure to nominate Marlina Bolan for the Classified Personnel Council Everyday Hero Award. Marlina is very deserving of this award. Marlina is always very positive and has a smile and kind word for everyone she meets. Marlina works in the Facilities Management Custodial Office. She is constantly working with people that are upset about their rooms not being unlocked or custodial needs not being met.

Great customer service skills

Marlina has always used good customer service skills and makes everyone feel that their problem is important to her and leaves them feeling like she truly cares about how they feel. Marlina always has a positive attitude even when dealing with difficult people. Marlina has all of the qualities that are being looked for in a person receiving this award.”

Marlina has been employed in her present job in Facilities for almost 4 years. Prior to this position, Marlina worked in Employment in Human Resource Services for over 8 years. Marlina started her education at Front Range Community College and then started taking classes at CSU. She began her employment with CSU while she was taking classes and her first job was working in a work-study position in Benefits in Human Resource Services. Marlina graduated from CSU in 1997 with a degree in Psychology.

Marlina enjoys taking walks and hikes with her dog. She likes camping and being outdoors. She reads and enjoys listening to tapes on inspirational messages. She believes each day is a gift and tries to make the best out of each and every day.

When asked how she feels about being nominated for an Everyday Hero, Marlina said “It was very nice to be nominated and anyone in my office could be an Everyday Hero.” She was touched and amazed that Sheela nominated her. She values her coworkers and likes helping customers in her department.
