Pitch competition for student entrepreneurs takes place May 3 and offers $25,000 in startup funding.
On May 3, the top 20 entrepreneurial teams from across Colorado State University will compete in the Venture Adventure Challenge, a business pitch competition, at the Rocky Mountain Innosphere. The top three teams will receive up to $25,000 in cash and in-kind prizes for their efforts.
Of the 20 teams selected to compete, 12 will be from the Institute for Entrepreneurship Venture Accelerator and eight will be chosen from across campus.
Each team must have at least one current CSU undergraduate or graduate student, but teams from all disciplines and levels of business experience are encouraged to compete. Individuals are also welcome to apply – teams need only consist of one CSU student to be considered.
To apply, each team must complete and submit a two-page executive summary (template available online at www.biz.colostate.edu/IE or via request email) to IEinfo@business.colostate.edu by April 8 at 5 p.m.
For this competition, teams are not judged by their business plans, but rather on their ability to present their venture in a compelling and confident manner. Each team will have 10 minutes to present, using no more than 15 slides, followed by five minutes of Q&A from the judges.
The competition begins at noon on May 3 at the Innosphere, 320 E. Vine Drive in Fort Collins. The first round will conclude at 4 p.m., and the top five teams will move on to the final round at 5 p.m. The winners will be announced at 7 p.m. during the awards banquet and reception.
