Earth Day and Student Sustainability Fair April 22

April 20, 2010

It's time for the second annual Earth Day and Student Sustainability Fair at CSU. The fair is intended to be an educational event for students of every demographic to highlight actions that can be taken towards living a more sustainable lifestyle.

Updated April 23, 2010, 10:51 a.m.: Earth Day activities were canceled yesterday, April 22, due to the weather.

The Sustainable Apparel Show, scheduled for 10 a.m. - 2 p.m today, Friday, April 23, has now been postponed.  The new date will be posted when it becomes available.

Get engaged in campus sustainability

"I think the Earth Day Celebration and Student Sustainability Fair is an excellent way for students to get engaged in campus sustainability, which makes this event a key component of CSU's Green University initiatives. The University exists for and because of its students, which makes them an important focus for sustainability efforts.

Stewards of this planet

"The Fair is intended to educate students about living sustainably and provide an opportunity to celebrate our diversity as stewards of this planet...Most importantly, CSU groups will have a chance to educate students, faculty, and staff about their sustainability efforts."

- Alysse Brice, president of the CSU Coalition for Campus Sustainability (CCS)

  • student orgs
  • local non-profit organizations

Sustainable Apparel Show

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 23 in LSC Plaza. The Sustainable Apparel Show aims to encourage students to think twice before buying new clothes. The show will highlight sustainable clothing, especially from thrift stores, and demonstrate that used clothes are fashionable too!

About Live Green Team and Coalition for Campus Sustainability

The Live Green Team, sponsored by Housing & Dining Services, consists of student and staff volunteers who want to make a difference and are taking environmental action.

The Coalition for Campus Sustainability, or CCS, is a student group that organizes and promotes campus-wide sustainability projects. It organizes the annual Earth Day Student Sustainability Fair, similar to the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Fair but geared toward students on the Plaza. This year they will also pilot a campus composting project.
