Get your orange on for CSU-Hawaii game

October 24, 2012

Fans are encouraged to "Orange Out" Hughes Stadium on Saturday when the orange-clad Rams take on Hawaii.

CAM the Ram will be wearing his orange Saturday. The CSU Rams are hoping that orange continues to be their lucky color Saturday when they take on Hawaii in their annual “Orange Out” game.

“Orange Out” games are a tribute to CSU’s past, when the school was known as Colorado A&M and Aggies was the school’s mascot. Wearing orange honors past CSU teams that used pumpkin (orange) and alfalfa (green) as the school colors.

Rams 2-0 in orange

“Orange Outs” have been extremely popular with fans, who have embraced the new tradition by trading their green and gold apparel for orange on one game day each season. More importantly, the Rams are 2-0 while wearing their bright orange jerseys since the practice was introduced in 2010.

Captain DeLoach

Fans will also get the chance to welcome a number of CSU legends, including Olympic bronze medalist Janay DeLoach-Soukup.

DeLoach-Soukup, who finished third in the women’s long jump at the London Games, is an honorary team captain for the game and will be on the field for the pregame coin toss. She will be introduced during a break in the first quarter, and will also lead the team in the Ram Walk through Ram Town prior to the game.Olympic bronze medalist Janay DeLoach-Soukup will be honored Saturday.
