President's Community Lecture Series kicks off

December 30, 2013

As a gift to the Fort Collins community in honor of the city's 150th birthday, President Tony Frank today announced the creation of a new community lecture series that will highlight the University's outstanding programs and faculty.

“We’re grateful for all that the people of Fort Collins do for CSU and our students year-round,” Frank said. “Our city’s sesquicentennial provides a wonderful opportunity to launch this new series, which will help throw open the doors to our campus and give the people of Fort Collins a chance to learn about some of the most exciting breakthroughs happening at CSU directly from the faculty who are doing the work.”

The new President’s Community Lecture Series kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21 with a presentation by Dr. Steve Withrow, one of the world’s leading experts on how the treatment of cancer in animals can translate to new advances in treatment for humans. Withrow is a University Distinguished Professor and founder of the groundbreaking Flint Animal Cancer Center in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

The lecture, titled "Stories from a Career in Oncology: One Medicine. One Cancer. One Cure," and a post-lecture reception with Frank and Withrow takes place at the University Theatre in the University Center for the Arts. The lecture and post-lecture reception are both free and open to the public.

Only 50 tickets left

Tickets are required for the lecture and reception, as there are a limited number of seats available. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
