Benefits Open Enrollment period for state-classifieds is May 1-16

The Benefits Open Enrollment period for state-classified employees runs from Tuesday, May 1, to Wednesday, May 16.

Human Resource Services is sharing preliminary information regarding the State of Colorado Department of Personnel & Administration’s upcoming benefits open enrollment period for FY12/13. Initial information from the state indicates that this open enrollment period will not be mandatory for all benefit elections except flexible spending accounts (FSA), which require enrollment each year in accordance with IRS regulations.   

Open Enrollment Information

The benefits open enrollment period for state-classified employees will run from Tuesday, May 1, to Wednesday, May 16. Your current coverage will continue into FY12/13, with the exception of any FSA enrollment (Healthcare and Dependent Care), as re-enrollment is required each year if continued FSA participation is desired. Introductory highlights of the State’s upcoming enrollment period are listed below.

  • Benefitsolver - Benefit elections or changes for the next fiscal year (July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013) will continue to be made through the State’s online enrollment system, Benefitsolver. Please take this opportunity to logon to the Benefitsolver enrollment system to ensure your user ID and password are current. 
  • Kaiser Permanente of Colorado - The State announced that Kaiser is broadening the medical plan service area in northern Colorado for open enrollment.  The expanded zip code list is in the March HealthLine.
  • FSA Maximum- Healthcare Reform has reduced the Healthcare FSA maximum annual contribution to $2,500 effective this open enrollment period.    
Benefits Fair and Vendor Presentations

The CSU Human Resources Office will sponsor the annual Benefits Fair on Tuesday, May 8, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the North Ballroom of the Lory Student Center. The State of Colorado has facilitated attendance of the medical and dental benefit plan administrators and they will provide presentations of the offered plans and be available to answer your questions.Additional information related to the Benefits Fair will be communicated at a later date.   

Benefits Options and Premium Costs

The current legislative session is in progress and plan information and premiums will not be available until the Long Bill is finalized. The State of Colorado Benefits Office anticipates this information may be available immediately preceding the open enrollment period.
