BusinessWeek ranks two College of Business programs in top 10 nationally

May 8, 2009

BusinessWeek ranked the marketing and business law programs in the College of Business at Colorado State University in the top 10 among programs at the nation's best business colleges around the country.

Quality education

The marketing department ranked second in the report; the business law program ranked ninth. The April report, "Undergraduate Business Specialties: The Best of the Best," followed BusinessWeek's overall February ranking of Colorado State University's College of Business as one of the top undergraduate business programs in the country.

"We are very pleased with this ranking and especially appreciative that our students recognize they're getting a quality education at Colorado State," said Tom Ingram, chair of the marketing department. "The College of Business continuously works to enhance the educational experience of our graduates and ensure that our students leave here prepared for the working world."

Students, recruiters surveyed

In February, the magazine surveyed more than 85,000 graduating seniors on such topics as the quality of teaching and overall student satisfaction. The magazine also interviewed 600 corporate recruiters on where to find the best graduates, curricula and career services. As part of that ranking, senior business majors were asked to grade their academic programs - on a scale of one to five - in a dozen areas including marketing, accounting, calculus, financial management and corporate strategy. Scores were calculated for each of the 101 ranked schools in each area. In total, 49 schools appear in the top 10 in at least one category, according to the magazine.

Colorado State also moved up in overall rankings for 2009

In the overall rankings released in February, Colorado State moved up to 67th on the list - 30th among all public schools listed in the 2009 BusinessWeek rankings. The college ranked 14th among all colleges and universities in the West and Southwest.
