Construction closes Mason Street intersections on campus

June 25, 2013

Lake Street will be closed on campus just west of College Avenue beginning Monday, July 1.

The closure will last into mid-August. Crews will conduct major utility work and reconstruct the intersection as part of the MAX Bus Rapid Transit system project. Lake Street will reopen by the week of Aug. 19, when students move in to residence halls and fall classes resume.

University Avenue at Mason Street also will close beginning Monday, July 1. That closure will last about two weeks.

Traffic and pedestrians headed eastbound through CSU campus will be detoured north on East Drive to Pitkin Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured onto College Avenue.

MAX is on the way!

Construction of the MAX Bus Rapid Transit system will continue until early 2014, with MAX service beginning in May 2014. MAX will offer passengers rail-like convenience at 12 stations and two transit centers between downtown and Harmony Road, with service every 10 minutes and real-time bus arrival information at each station. MAX will connect Downtown Fort Collins, Colorado State University, Midtown and south Fort Collins, providing new economic redevelopment opportunities near station locations.
