Tracking down track rules

January 24, 2012

Hey Cam:

It's been so nice out, and the Jack Christiansen track looks so inviting. I was wondering.... Can anyone walk on the track when it's open, and are there any stipulations to using it?

Cam's answer:

Wow, this one was a toughie! I ended up running a few laps around campus until I ran into my buddy, Doug Max, the senior associate athletics director. He said anyone can use the track whenever it isn't in use by the track team.

So in other words, you can run or walk your little heart out anytime the team doesn't have practice or a track meet and there isn't a scheduled event occurring on the track.

Doug said the team holds practice from 10 a.m.-noon and from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays are usually for track meets, and Sundays are completely open.

So there you have it. You can run, jump, or walk a total of 19 hours a day! Phew! Now that's a workout.

See you at the track!
