Activities funded through the Energy Institute must address an important area of energy, including but not limited to biofuels, smart grids, energy storage, solar, wind, energy efficiency, energy policy, and energy education.

Three opportunities

Proposals can be submitted to the following three opportunities:

  • Discovery Projects -- Early stage research projects that will generate preliminary information to support future proposals.
  • Commercialization Readiness Projects -- Projects aimed at dissemination of innovation through companies, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and foundations. Funds should be used to help progress CSU energy research toward commercialization. Faculty members with pre-commercial stage research projects are encouraged to apply.
  • Intellectual Capacity Building Projects -- Projects that will advance or enhance the body of knowledge around a particular EI focus area. Projects under this category may include white papers focused on discussion and analysis of an important energy area, energy-related seminars or events, travel or other activities that help CSU researchers achieve a critical "next step" in their research.
