CMMAP to host science conference for high school students, teachers Oct. 19

October 11, 2013

The Colorado Global Climate Conference educates high schoolers on local and global climate issues through presentations, speakers, and engaging breakout sessions.

The Colorado State University Center for Multiscale Modeling of Atmospheric Process (CMMAP) will host the seventh annual Colorado Global Climate Conference on Saturday Oct. 19 in CSU Lory Student Center and Engineering.

The Colorado Global Climate Conference educates high school students and their teachers on local and global climate issues through presentations, speakers, and engaging breakout sessions. Each participant will have the opportunity to attend three informational breakout sessions of their choice that examine different aspects of climate science and sustainabile technologies.

Doc Ryan and Science of Action

Prior to the breakout sessions, participants will have the opportunity to listen to and discuss climate issues with this year's keynote speaker, Dr. Ryan Vachon, a.k.a. Doc Ryan.  Doc Ryan's presentation will be titled "The Science of Action."  He will give us his take on how we're all scientists, and how our innate understanding of the world around us lends itself to creativity and innovation...and maybe even a more sustainable future for our planet.

Lunch will be provided and CMMAP will offer transportation reimbursement as funding allows on a need basis

About CMMAP

CMMAP is a multi-institutional National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center based at Colorado State. The center is focused on developing a revolutionary approach to climate modeling by improving cloud representation – an approach that offers more insight on cloud participation in the global climate.
