Everyday Hero: Allen Sneesby

March 7, 2014

Allen was nominated by Doug Satterfield of ACNS for an Everyday Hero Award.

Allen Sneesby
Academic Computing Networking Services (ACNS)
IT Technician II

Allen has been employed at the university for 13 years, and has been working in his position as a media specialist and an IT Technician the entire time. Allen lived and worked in the mountains as an audiovisual guy. When his children were older, the family moved to Fort Collins after Allen applied to an ad in the paper for Colorado State University. Allen is the AV guy for the Board of Governors and has been on several hiring and search committees at CSU. Allen also belongs to Info Com International and is a Certified Technology Specialist.

Dedicated to customer service

Doug nominated Allen for an Everyday Hero Award because of his dedication to making things right and his outstanding customer service. Doug states, “Allen works directly (on a daily basis) with CSU professors and solves many of the classroom technical issues with a smile on his face. Allen is a tireless worker and greets each day with a positive attitude. Many of the professors (after meeting him) will ask for Allen’s help specifically knowing he is their go-to guy.”

Doug continues, “I have been a part of the CSU staff for more than 22 years; I cannot think of anyone more deserving of being recognized as an Everyday Hero. If I were to solicit others for feedback on Allen Sneesby, I am sure you would hear the same type of accolades. Why? – Because I hear them all the time from the CSU community.”

When Allen is not working he enjoys woodworking. He specializes in log furniture and has taught his children this craft. Currently, he crafts as a side business.  Allen also enjoys building hot rod, and has restored his ’67 Camaro. Allen also enjoys gardening, skiing and boating in his spare time.

Allen plans to stay at Colorado State University until he retires. He hopes to travel upon his retirement. When asked what he thought about being nominated for the Everyday Hero Award, Allen said, “I am humbled. It is super nice to be appreciated.”
