2011 campus crime statistics released

September 17, 2012

The following is a letter to campus from CSUPD Chief Wendy Rich-Goldschmidt. The letter introduces the 2012 Safety on Campus Update, which includes the 2011 campus crime statistics and the university's Drug and Alcohol Policy and Fire Safety Update.

Dear students and employees:

As many of you may know, the Colorado State University Police Department is responsible for releasing campus crime statistics to the University community.

The 2011 campus crime statistics and University Drug and Alcohol Policy can be found in the Safety On Campus 2012 Update, distributed in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The act requires colleges and universities to disclose information on security policies and timely, annual information about crime on and around campus.

The Fire and Safety Update and University Drug and Alcohol Policy document informs the University community about important procedures, policies, crime prevention programs and campus crime statistics. A downloadable version of the 2012 Fire and Safety Update and University Drug and Alcohol Policy, including the 2011 campus crime statistics, is available at police.colostate.edu/pdfs/2012-Safety-Report.pdf .

This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus, in certain off- campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colorado State University.

A hard copy of the Safety on Campus 2012 pamphlet is available at the Colorado State University Police Department, located in Green Hall, or the Lory Student Center Bookstore. A link to the report is also available, along with other campus health and safety information, at  safety.colostate.edu.

The CSU Police Department is also required to notify the University community about public information regarding registered sex offender, as required by Megan's Law. A current listing of sex offenders is available at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation website at sor.state.co.us.

For more information on campus crime statistics please contact the CSU Police Department at 970-491-6425. For more information about general health and safety on campus, visit safety.colostate.edu.
