Forestry Fair will offer logging sports demos and career exploration

Tour the shop where wildland fire engines are maintained and housed, learn about forest insects and diseases, fire, and community forestry, as well as find out about natural resource and forestry careers at the 2011 Forestry Fair at Colorado State. The free event is at the Colorado State Forest Service facilities on CSU's Foothills Campus in Fort Collins.

Saturday, Sept. 17
9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Colorado State Forest Service and the Warner College of Natural Resources invite you to bring your family, friends, club, or class to the 2011 Forestry Fair and help us celebrate the International Year of Forests

The Forestry Fair will feature:

  • Logging sports demonstrations
  • Seedling tree nursery tours
  • Wildland fire engine shop tours
  • Forestry equipment demonstrations
  • Programs on forest insects and diseases, fire, forest products and community forestry
  • Kids' activities, including puppet shows, tree seed plantings, fire experiments and crafts
  • Information on natural resource and forestry careers

“Northern Colorado students, families and anyone with an interest in our forests is invited to come explore the exciting field of forestry,” said Jamie Dahl, CSFS experiential learning coordinator. “We want everyone to be aware of the importance of forest and wildfire management in the conservation of resources that we all share, including water, wildlife, recreation and wood.”

This free event will take place at:

  • The Colorado State Forest Service facilities on the Colorado State University Foothills Campus, 3843 LaPorte Ave., Fort Collins

Other partners include the U.S. Forest Service, City of Fort Collins, Larimer County Department of Natural Resources, Front Range Community College, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, National Park Service and others.
