Three home swimming duals, Jan. 15-17

January 14, 2009

The Rams will kick off a grueling three day dual meet Thursday night when they host the Utah Utes at the team's first home meet of the season. The Rams will then host BYU on Friday night and wrap up with New Mexico State Saturday afternoon.

 Utah, BYU, New Mexico State

Colorado State will head into this weekend with a strong 4-1 record against Mountain West Conference teams. With Utah just one place ahead of CSU in the conference, the meet is especially important for the Rams as the team tries to move up in the standings.

Last week the Rams traveled to San Diego last week to compete in a relay meet with San Diego State. CSU tied the Aztecs with each school winning three relays a piece in the six-event relay format. The relay meet was not part of the official schedule because the training trip was changed from Florida to San Diego.

Ram's in fourth place

The Rams' loss to TCU in November leaves CSU (4-1) in fourth place in the Mountain West Conference standings. Wyoming and BYU are tied for first place with records of 2-0 in the MWC. Utah (1-0-1) is just ahead of CSU in third place. TCU (2-3-1), San Diego State (2-4) UNLV (1-3), New Mexico (1-4) and Air Force (0-4) round out standings.
