Ultimate outdoor learning experience available

Wilderness Leadership (NRRT 350) is a unique course offering that introduces students to the fundamentals of leadership in the outdoors.

Trips help develop leadership skills

Learn how to lead trips into the outdoors, develop personal skills such as backpacking and climbing while developing leadership skills for group processing and expedition planning.

Course topics include:
  • Wilderness backpacking and navigation
  • Rock climbing and mountaineering
  • Wilderness first aid and emergency management
  • Group dynamics and applied leadership theory
  • Risk management and safety

This course meets on Tuesday nights from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. with four field trip days during the semester, including an overnight backpacking trip, rock climbing and challenge course experiences. The first class is Tuesday, Aug. 28; there is still time to register.
