Doris Ann Hoff

Doris Ann Hoff of Bellvue passed away June 24, peacefully at home with her husband Gerald at her side.

Doris was born May 16, 1927, to Charles Jefferson and Ruth Marie Huntzinger at their homestead near Douglas. She attended grade school and graduated in 1945 from Douglas High School. After high school, Doris traveled to Occidental, Calif., to support the war effort, after which she attended Barnes School of Business in Denver.

In January 1948, Gerald Hoff met Doris Ann on a blind date arranged by his brother, George Hoff, at the Denver Stock Show. One year later on Jan. 15, 1949, they married during the blizzard of ’49 in Douglas. Their early life together included ranching on Fish Creek in Virginia Dale.

In 1958, they moved to Bellvue. During thier 62-year marriage, Doris and Gerald had three sons, Charles Hoff of Bellvue, Karl Hoff of Bellvue and Shawn Hoff of Windsor.

At the time of her retirement, she was secretary to the head of the Colorado State University Art Department.

Her life was committed to her family. Her special interests included being a woman of faith, expressing her Swedish heritage and supporting other women in her Wednesday afternoon stitch group.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Joyce Maurer; and her special cousin, Annie Gray.

She will be remembered by her husband Gerald; brothers Carl Huntzinger and John Huntzinger; sons Charles (Sara), Karl (Cindy) and Shawn (Pam); grandchildren Scott Beckman, Anna Hoff, Stephanie BeDan, Matthew Hoff, Blair Hoff and Katelyn Hoff; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to her care giving team, private caregivers, ICON Home Health, Visiting Angels and Front Range Hospice.

A private interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, June 30 at the Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive, Fort Collins.

Memorial contributions in memory of Doris Hoff may be made to Front Range Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association or the Arthritis Association in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO.  80526.
