Former CSU great Hammon a finalist for WNBA honor

Becky Hammon, considered the greatest women's basketball player in CSU history, is in the running to be honored as one of the top 15 players in WNBA history.

Fans can vote for former CSU great Becky Hammon to be included among the 15 greatest players in WNBA history.Former CSU basketball great Becky Hammon needs your vote to be included among the top 15 players in the 15-year history of the WNBA.

Hammon, CSU’s all-time leading scorer and the only women’s basketball player in school history to have her jersey number retired, currently is in her 12th WNBA season. Her team, the San Antonio Silver Stars, leads the Western Conference and has the league’s best record.

Hammon, who played at CSU from 1996-99 and led the Rams to a 33-3 record and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the 1999 NCAA Tournament, is a five-time WNBA all-star and a four-time all-WNBA selection. She ranks second in WNBA history in 3-pointers, fifth in free-throw accuracy, sixth in assists and eighth in scoring.

Fans can vote for Hammon on wnba.com through July 14. The top 15 will be announced July 23 at the All-Star Game in San Antonio.
