6-Day Races at the CSU Oval

July 27, 2009

Traditional velodrome racing involves racing on a banked oval track, but since Fort Collins doesn't have a velodrome yet, the CSU Oval offers the next best thing and all of the excitement and fun of track racing.

Track-style bicycle races on Sundays, July 12 - Aug. 16

Track-style bicycle races return to the Oval at Colorado State University on Sunday, July 12, and continue for six consecutive Sundays through Aug. 16 (rain date Aug. 23).

The 6-Day Races on the Oval is an annual event which premiered in 2008 and is presented by the CSU Rams Cycling Team and the Fort Collins Velodrome Association (FCVA), giving local residents a taste of true track-style bike racing.

Race schedule

Everyone welcome

Of course, everyone's welcome to come enjoy the atmosphere of the races and watch the action for a while. One of the great things about track racing is that you're never far from the action! Spread out a picnic on the Oval or stop in at Eliot's Mess or Chipotle, mention the 6-Day Races and receive their dinner specials.

No parking on Oval during races

Parking on the Oval is not allowed during this event on July 12, 19, 26, Aug. 2, 9, and 16. Please remove cars from the Oval each Saturday evening before the races.

Sponsored by Fort Collins Velodrome Association and CSU Rams Cycling Team.
