Know your numbers

Celebrate Cholesterol Awareness Month by getting a free screening Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 8:15 – 10:30 a.m . This free fasting lipid profile also includes blood pressure and glucose testing. You must fast (no food or drink except water) for 12 hours before the test.

Appointments are required. To register, call the Health District at (970) 224-5209.

This fasting lipid profile includes:

  • total cholesterol level
  • HDL
  • LDL
  • triglycerides
  • glucose
  • blood pressure  check fds chfd    

Results for total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and blood glucose are obtained by a fingerstick test. A registered nurse will check blood pressure, assess risk for diabetes and heart attack, explain the test results, provide a follow-up recommendation and health education materials within 20 minutes.

Medications are permitted if they may be taken without food. Please drink at least 12-16 ounces of water prior to the test. If you have diabetes, please check with your doctor regarding whether or not you should take your medicine or fast for this test.

Screenings will be provided for free for CSU faculty, staff and students. Don’t miss this chance to improve your health!
