Spring football game kicks off 11 a.m. April 24

Fans can see the Rams in action this spring at the annual spring game, April 24, at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. Enjoy free admission and parking, a complimentary pancake breakfast, Rams Town inflatables, and the Rams in their game jerseys in 50-plus plays.

The Rams expect the Green & Gold game to take place as scheduled, but other morning activities are cancelled.

With rainy weather predicted to continue late Friday night and early Saturday morning throughout Northern Colorado, the CSU department of athletics announced that it will cancel several activities scheduled to take place prior to the start of the CSU football team’s annual spring game. Green & Gold game a go

The Rams have entered their final week of spring practice in good health, and the Green & Gold Game is back on the docket, officially.

Admission and parking, as well as the pancake breakfast courtesy of the CSU Spirit Committee, are free.

Timeline of events

  • 8 a.m. - Parking lots open
  • 8:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m. - Free community pancake breakfast, west concourse
  • 9 a.m.-noon - Ram Town interactive inflatables, north concourse
  • 10:15 a.m. (approx.) - Team takes field, begins practice
  • 10:50 a.m. (approx.) - Situational scrimmage, followed by brief intermission
  • 11:50 a.m. (approx.) - Players separate into drafted teams
  • Noon (approx.) - Green & Gold Game, 50-plus plays (traditional football scoring) 

Meet the players and coaches

At the game’s conclusion, fans will be allowed onto the field to meet players and coaches, take photos and collect autographs. 

Listen to the game on radio

Fans unable to be at the spring game Saturday can tune in to hear the call of Brian Roth and Kevin McGlue on Nelligan Sports’ Colorado State Radio Network. The broadcast, which will begin at 11 a.m., will air on KLZ (560 AM) in Denver and throughout Colorado, as well as KCOL (600 AM) in Northern Colorado.

Those out-of-state can hear streaming of the broadcast on http://www.560thesource.com or http://www.600kcol.com.

Team will conduct its own draft Wednesday afternoon

The team will conduct a draft, the results of which are expected to be posted on CSURams.com on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 21.

Designated senior captains will select groups of positions. The Rams will wear their game jerseys for the Green & Gold Game. Larry Kerr will head one team while Pat Meyer will take the other. Fairchild will serve as commissioner.

Check CSU football twitter page for NFL draft updates

Several 2009 CSU seniors are NFL draft hopefuls this week. With the fourth-seventh rounds taking place Saturday during the spring game, the athletic department will do its best to communicate any news of players drafted to those in attendance. Updates will also be available on CSU’s football Twitter page.
