The University community is invited to the Lory Student Center Theatre beam signing event Nov. 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Lory Student Center Governing Board, along with the Association for Student Activity Programming will hold a Beam Signing event Thursday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the LSC Plaza.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to leave their mark on the LSC Theatre by signing the beam. During the event, the LSC Marketing Department will take photos and hand out plastic hard hats to the first 100 people who sign the beam.
The signed beam will be the last beam placed within the Theatre's floor.
The LSC Theatre began construction in summer of 2011 and is estimated to be complete summer of 2012. The Theatre's design was modeled after a camp stool and will continue to honor architect James Hunter's original intent by maintaining the outer structure.
The new LSC Theatre will incorporate more flexibility for events by having a flat floor and expandable seating. Both the flat floor and the expandable seating will allow for concerts, ballroom banquets and receptions, as well as events that require tiered seating. The Theatre also will have bathrooms, a new green room and a small catering service.
Photos of the progress can be found on the Lory Student Center Facebook page.
Did you know there were seven students from 1960 featured on a postcard who were instrumental in approving the original fee that supported construction of what we now call the Lory Student Center?
Like these seven students, the LSC is encouraging the University community to tell their CSU story. Students, faculty, staff and alumni can go online and submit their unique memory pertaining to CSU and the Lory Student Center.
