New construction projects ready to commence

February 25, 2011

The new Engineering II Building and the addition to Morgan Library are on track to begin site and utility work in early March.

Thanks to the generous support of CSU students the new Engineering II Building and the addition to Morgan Library are on track to begin site and utility work in early March.

Engineering II Accommodates College's Growing Enrollment

Engineering II is a 122,000 square-foot, interdisciplinary research and academic facility for the College of Engineering. It will be constructed north of Green Hall at the corner of Laurel Street and Meridian Avenue.

The building will house interdisciplinary research laboratories, teaching laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices, and the Student Success Center. The building is needed to accommodate the college's growing student enrollment and expanding research activities. It will bring faculty and students together in interdisciplinary teams focused on energy, health, and the environment.

Morgan Library expansionMorgan Library Gives Students More Room

The Morgan Library addition is a 4000+ square-feet. It will be built at the current entrance to the library. With the need for more student seating as a primary focus, the two-story building will be primarily glass and this area of the library will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Located at the heart of the CSU campus, the Morgan Library is more than just a place where students come to do research. When the addition is complete students will have a place where they can use their laptop, study, work on group projects, and relax with a cup of coffee between classes.

Impacts Traffic, Parking  and Library Entrance As Early as Next Week

Early phases of construction will focus on utilities and site work, and the campus community will experience a variety of disruptions to pedestrian and traffic routes and parking.

The entrance to Morgan Library will be moved to the northeast corner in early March.

Utility work for Engineering II will begin in the next week. As usual, we request your patience with the changes and inconvenience.

Questions about the Morgan Library project can be directed to Jim Stoddard, 491-0138. Questions concerning Engineering II can be directed to Steve Keiss, 491-0017.
