Freshmen, seniors asked to take NSSE survey

February 1, 2012

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) will give students a safe, confidential opportunity to tell CSU what they really think about their educational experience.

Freshmen and seniors at CSU will be asked to take 15 minutes to fill out the NSSE survey. The NSSE survey invitation will be sent to the official CSU email account of all first-year and senior students enrolled in spring 2012. Class levels will be determined by the number of credits a student has completed.

The survey invitation will be sent out Wednesday, Feb. 8, with a follow-up e-mail sent Feb. 16 and a final reminder Feb. 27. The deadline to participate is March 9.

Responses needed

CSU does the NSSE survey every three years, and hopes to have wide participation from students in every college and every demographic. High response rates are needed to get the most accurate results.

The surveys are done online and take about 15 minutes to complete. While results serve as an important data source for various levels of accreditation and program review, they are most importantly used to influence campus policy.  In the past results have influenced campus conversations about diversity, experiential learning, and the availability of academic resources/support outside of the classroom.

Prizes for participating

NSSE participants will have the chance to win one of 20 $100 CSU Bookstore gift certificates or one of five iPad 16GB tablets.
