New coach McElwain to announce recruiting class

New CSU football coach Jim McElwain will unveil his first recruiting class during a pair of events Wednesday, Feb. 1 - National Signing Day for high school football players.

CSU coach Jim McElwain will talk Wednesday about his initial recruiting class.McElwain, the former Alabama offensive coordinator, has been busy meeting with players, parents and coaches in an effort to put together the best possible collection of new players for next year’s team. CSU is expected to announce the signing of nearly 20 players.

The public’s first opportunity to see the Class of 2012 will come during McElwain’s media conference, set for 1 p.m. Feb. 1. The event will be live webcast by CSU and available by accessing the link at CSURams.com.

The Ram Roundup is a fan-friendly event set for 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Fort Collins Marriott. McElwain will discuss his recruiting class and present video highlights not available to the media. The event, sponsored by the Ram Club, includes a buffet dinner and cash bar.

Tickets are $35 for Ram Club members and $40 for others. Pre-registration is required by calling the Office of CSU Events at (970) 491-4601. Deadline is 5 p.m. Friday.
