More bucks for your books

Unless you've worked in a college bookstore, turning unwanted textbooks into cash seems so simple. But, take a step behind the scenes of the CSU Bookstore Buyback. There are many factors that affect the amount of money you receive. This knowledge can help you get the best price!

Although the CSU Bookstore has received thousands of textbook orders, we expect about 500 more. To ensure you receive the best price, encourage your professors to turn in their textbook orders as soon as possible! Your hard-work can literally pay off.

Did you know that books are sorted into two types: retail and wholesale?

  • You get the most cash for retail books that will be used at CSU next semester. There are currently 1,100 different titles on our retail buyback list! You receive up to 67% of the price you paid for the book if you bought it used or up to 50% if you bought it new!
  • Wholesale books are not being used at CSU next semester or the bookstore already has enough inventory of that book. The wholesale price is the national market value for the book. Any wholesale books are boxed up and shipped to the wholesale company daily.

Bring in all your old textbooks

Retail and wholesale textbooks are bought back during the same transaction. The large volume of incoming books during Buyback keeps everyone on their toes!

Here's more important Buyback information:

  • Sell early!
  • Writing and highlighting inside books is okay.
  • CSU Bookstore buys looseleaf textbooks that will be used next semester! The book needs to be in a binder.
  • Bring all components along with your textbooks, including access cards, CDs, and any other items.
  • Books usually have no value if they are water damaged, have missing pages, have answers filled in, torn bindings, or are old editions.
  • New this semester, beginning Dec. 8, there will be a CSU Bookstore Buyback location at the Academic Village Commons. Hours will be weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3- 6:30 p.m.
  • Other Buyback locations include outside Clark C, Drive-Thru near Moby and at the CSU Bookstore.
