CAM the Ram vying for mascot championship

December 5, 2012

Our furry-faced bighorn needs a push from the entire CSU family to upset South Carolina's mascot and reach the finals.

CAM the Ram needs your help!

CAM, CSU’s beloved animated mascot, has reached the semifinals of the annual Capital One Mascot Challenge. He is matched against “Cocky the Gamecock” from the University of South Carolina.

Great showing so far

CAM, in his first year in the Capital One Mascot Challenge, advanced to the semifinals after a long preliminary voting process and a quarterfinals victory over North Carolina State University’s “Ms. Wuf.” Sixteen mascots from across the country were invited to compete.

“Cocky” is a formidable opponent. The animated rooster, who won the championship in 2003, soundly defeated every mascot he faced in this year’s preliminary competition, and easily defeated Michigan State’s “Sparty” in the quarterfinals.

Rally time!

Currently, CAM is trailing by a narrow margin. You can vote  using multiple browsers daily. You can also vote using Facebook, or on Twitter using #CapitalOneCAM in your tweets – and every retweet counts as a vote.

The winner of the CAM-Cocky battle will face the winner of the other semifinal matching “Raider Red” from Texas Tech University and “Sebastian the Ibis” from the University of Miami.

Scholarships on the line

The Capital One National Mascot of the Year will be announced at the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1, 2013, and will be awarded a $20,000 scholarship to help fund its school's mascot program. Each of the 2012 Capital One All-America team members will also receive $5,000 for their university mascot program.

Semifinal voting closes Monday morning. Vote daily, and help CAM become the Mascot of the Year!
