The Fashion Report, a student-run magazine produced by the CSU Fashion Group International student group out of the Department of Design and Merchandising, recently published its fourth issue this spring and launched a brand new website. The new website allows readers to view current and past issues, while catching new content in the weekly updated articles section.
Founded in 2012 by Kiah Anderson, junior apparel and merchandising major, the goal of the magazine was to provide design and merchandising students with hands-on industry experience of producing a fashion publication.
The magazine provides CSU students with up-to-date reports on fashion trends, news, and events from a Colorado perspective. With a focus on the growing Colorado fashion and design market, The Fashion Report utilizes local resources and connects with local businesses to produce their online content and bi-annual issues.
"We want to get the student body more involved by incorporating street style, and focusing on style and global fashion with a Colorado twist," says Anderson.
In fall 2013, Brian Guiducci, senior apparel and merchandising major, was brought on as editor in chief, leading a staff that has grown to over 35 students from majors across the university including apparel and merchandising, journalism, graphic design and applied computing technology.
"One of the major skills that I have learned from the magazine is management," explains Guiducci. "It has been a huge learning experience for me to manage such a large staff, and I believe that this experience will definitely benefit me in my future career."
At the beginning of the spring 2014 semester, The Fashion Report entered into collaboration with The Rocky Mountain Collegian. Currently, The Fashion Report is the sole provider of fashion content for The Rocky Mountain Collegian. Each week readers can view Fashion Report articles at Collegian Central, their online website, and in every Wednesday's print issue.
"The Fashion Report for me has been more than a hands-on experience. I live and breathe the magazine some weeks, and I could not have a better project to supplement my college career," shares Anderson.
The Department of Design and Merchandising is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences.
