Work to repave College Avenue begins May 15

May 12, 2011

College Avenue, between Laporte Avenue and Mulberry Street, will be repaved this summer starting on May 15.

The project is scheduled for completion by June 15. The project will be conducted during night hours.

The plan calls for new pavement on College Avenue between Laporte Avenue and Mulberry Street and all adjacent parking areas.  Improvements also will also be made at pedestrian crosswalks.

Working hours and traffic impact
Working hours for the project typically will be 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays during construction months. A phased approach for traffic closures will require only one direction of travel closed at any one time. Construction will begin on the southbound side of College Avenue on May 15 and will be completed by Memorial Day weekend. After Memorial Day, work will begin on the northbound side of the road and will be completed by June 15.

All parking and travel lanes will be open during daytime, non-working hours. Traffic will drive on a milled surface as the project progresses with temporary parking provided during the daytime hours. Access will be available to all businesses during the day and night.
