The wending ways of water

To the faithful Ask Cam reader who asked, "Why is the water turned off in the fountain in front of the Physics Department?"

The answer is complicated but, as they say, elegant.

The water fountain in front of the Physics Wing of the Engineering Building is being switched on and off as part of a three-year “jump start” demonstration project for FortZED, or the Fort Collins Zero-Energy District, a partnership that includes CSU.

The project aims to reduce peak electrical demand and is monitoring the effect of those changes.
