Northern Colorado Business Report recognizes economic development efforts

March 12, 2009

The Northern Colorado Business Report on Wednesday honored Colorado State University economic development efforts with a Regional Spirit Award at its 2008 Bravo! Awards in Greeley.

NCBR logo“This is high recognition of Colorado State University’s economic development outreach and engagement initiatives, particularly in bringing higher education’s ability to effectively collaborate in workforce and community development,” said Lou Swanson, vice provost for Outreach and Strategic Partnerships who oversees the university’s economic development programs. “Interim President Tony Frank and Hunt Lambert, now associate provost for Continuing Education, created a structure that more efficiently and effectively transfers faculty innovations to the private sector.”

Praise for leadership in economic development

Swanson praised Lambert and Sarah Hach, formerly CSU director of economic development in northern Colorado, for their efforts to strengthen Colorado State’s connections to the business community in the region.

“We have been very successful in the last five years in working with businesses in the state to create jobs and new opportunities in economic development,” Swanson said. “Going forward, we hope our economic development programs will complement what’s happening in our other outreach divisions – CSU Extension and Continuing Education in particular – enabling us to more effectively deliver the talent we have on campus to rural Colorado as well as to the Front Range.”
