Vote for CSU at Denver Startup Week by June 30

Colorado State University experts are vying for a space in the third annual Denver Startup Week and need your votes. Click on the links below to vote for all of the CSU sessions during this large-scale annual event.

June 30 is the final day to vote for CSU sessions to be a part of Denver Startup Week. Denver Startup Week will host its third annual program in September 2014, and presentations are chosen based upon community votes. The Good MBA: Finding business solutions to global problems

Attend an interactive session with students in the Global Sustainable and Social Enterprise MBA program at Colorado State University. GSSE Director Carl Hammerdorfer will provide an overview, followed by presentations by company founders – both new and established – about the work that they have taken from the classroom into the world to solve large-scale problems. Hear tips for discovering entrepreneurship opportunities throughout the world, and how to begin the process of working in diverse markets. Vote here

Hatching the next generation of entrepreneurs: The importance of incubation

Attend an open house with Institute of Entrepreneurship companies in the Venture Accelerator Immersion Lab, in The Hatchery, and Hatchery graduates from Colorado State University. Participants can move between the different stations to learn about the companies, sample goods and test products, and hear about how they developed their business ideas. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback, learn about opportunities for further education or ways to be involved as a mentor or other supporter for emerging entrepreneurs. Vote here.

From Lab to Launch: Taking Ideas to Market

A follow up to last year’s popular presentation at Denver Startup Week about how research discoveries turn into commercial companies at Colorado State University and principals you can apply to getting your own ideas to market. Todd Headley, executive director of CSU Ventures – the University’s commercialization arm – will lead a panel of professors-turned-entrepreneurs as they recap their journey from Lab to Launch and share valuable lessons throughout the process. Entrepreneurs Rising Happy Hour: Fermentation Science and the Colorado Economy

Enjoy an educational and fun happy hour at the Crooked Stave taproom in The Source, hosted by the Colorado State University Fermentation Sciences program in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Mingle with startup brewers and learn about cutting-edge new degree at CSU that prepares students for a career in fermentation science. In addition to samples of a variety of craft beers, attendees will also enjoy catering utilizing fermented food products to compliment the beer menu. Participants can also enjoy an interactive beer-perience, such as tapping a brew made especially for Denver Startup Week or voting on ingredients that will go into a beer brewed after Denver Startup Week, and participants will be invited to a tasting on campus when the craft brew is ready. The ROI on the AI: How Colorado’s Advancing Industries Grants Support Innovation

The new Advancing Industries grants – signed into law in 2013 – target innovations in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, bioscience, electronics, energy/natural resources, information technology and infrastructure engineering; Combined, they are responsible for some 30 percent of state tax revenues and state wages. The law also offers tax credits to investors in these industries. Learn more about how to be awarded and how best to utilize these grants offered through the Office of Economic Development and International Trade from a panel including state legislators, grant recipients and researchers.
