Live Middle Eastern music

Malshey-Payan and Glenny's talk will be followed by live music by the band, Zuruna, a traditional Middle Eastern music ensemble that will share the sounds and rhythms of Arabic music.

Malshey-Payan serves as the vocalist for the group which features various classical and folk forms of music.

A free, catered reception for the event is being provided.

Anger, fear, and pain occupy a nation's consciousness

Growing up in Israel, Malshey-Payan was struck by the mixing of cultures that shared negative coping mechanisms for their anger, fear, and pain caused by widespread violence.

Upon moving to the United States and beginning her master's degree in Social Work at Colorado State University, she realized that her struggle to cope with her mother's death reflected the emotional struggles of her homeland.

In her recently published book, Peace Through Healing: My Vision for a New Middle East, co-written with Carrie Glenny, Malshey-Payan explores the repercussions of this nation-wide grief and provides her take on how to end the conflict.

Peace Through Healing: My Vision for a New Middle East is now available on amazon.com.
