Russ Johnson to be introduced as CSU System board member

Russ Johnson has been recently confirmed as a new board member of the CSU System Board of Governors by the Colorado Senate.

Russ Johnson will participate in his first CSU System Board of Governors meeting Wednesday, after recently being confirmed to the Board by the Colorado Senate. Johnson, 61, is a Republican from Sterling who was appointed by Gov. John Hickenlooper.

'Deeply connected to Colorado's land and its people'

“I’d like to congratulate Russ on being confirmed by the Senate, and I’m very pleased to welcome him to the CSU System Board of Governors,” Board Chair Joe Zimlich said. “Russ is deeply connected to Colorado’s land and its people, and his experience and leadership will be a tremendous asset to the Board, the CSU campuses and the state of Colorado.”

The CSU System Board of Governors has nine voting members and provides oversight to ensure effective management, accountability and leadership at all CSU System campuses – Fort Collins, Pueblo and the online Global Campus. Each member serves a four-year term.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be appointed to the CSU System Board of Governors,” Johnson said. “I believe in the unique role and mission of the CSU System, and I look forward to working with the Board to ensure that the System continues to build a stronger future for all of Colorado.”

Specializing in agri-business 

Johnson is an owner and managing partner of Johnson and Associates, CPAs, PC. Specializing in agri-business, he has more than 38 years of experience in public accounting and financial planning. He is a 1973 graduate of CSU, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Johnson is a native of northeast Colorado, where he was raised on a farm and ranch located midway between Sterling, Otis and Akron. He and his son continue to operate the family farm in Logan and Washington counties.

Johnson is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves on the local Wells Fargo Bank Board in Sterling and is a financial advisor to the board for Premier Farm Credit.

About the CSU System

The CSU System Board of Governors has nine voting members, appointed by the governor and confirmed by the State Senate, and four non-voting members who are faculty and student representatives from CSU and CSU-Pueblo. The board provides oversight to ensure effective management, accountability and leadership at all the CSU System universities – Fort Collins, Pueblo and the online Global Campus.
