In Memory

Jarratt H. Pott

August 11, 2014

Jarratt Henry Pott, 22, of Ft. Collins, left this world too early on Friday, August 1.

Jarratt was born July 16, 1992, in Ft. Collins, the son of Rick & Calla (Lapham) Pott.

He attended The Lab School for Creative Learning, Lincoln Jr. High, Poudre High School, CSU and Front Range CC. He recently worked at CSU in Housing & Dining Services.

Jarratt enjoyed the many youth activities that Ft. Collins has to offer: soccer, football, parks and rec, school activities and sports. He was an Odyssey of the Mind “OMer” during his elementary and junior high years and was a member of the 2005 World Finals Champions from Lincoln Jr. High. While at PHS, Jarratt participated in DECA and competed at DECA Nationals and also earned the Iron Chef Award as a senior in 2010.

Jarratt loved the outdoors including snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing, camping, hiking, fishing, mountain biking and back country adventures. His favorite places to spend time with friends were Cameron Pass in the winter and tubing the Poudre River in the summer.

Jarratt was creative, enjoyed projects and always sought new skills from those around him. At an early age he developed a passion for wood working and tried to carve a chair out of a 1000 pound tree stump, taking up most of the garage. His most successful project came when he and a best friend were able to build and launch a hovercraft, steering was optional. He also taught himself how to turn on a wood lathe and would spend many hours creating numerous fine pieces for family and friends.

Jarratt will be most remembered for his many friendships, his jokes or puns, always a smile on his face and laughter in his heart; he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Jarratt is preceded by his grandparents, Dick and Alice Pott, and is survived by his parents Rick and Calla, older brother Alec, younger sister Rachel, grandparents Henry and Penny Lapham, Aunts Rebecca Pott, Sandy Pott, Becca Lapham-Calandra, Uncle Henry Lapham, cousins, great uncles and great aunts.

A remembrance gathering of Jarratt’s life was held on Wednesday, August 6 at Rolland Moore Park.
