Mackenzie Kate Larson, born on March 31, 1995, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Mackenzie was a student at CSU during the Fall 2013, semester.

Mackenzie is survived by her mother, Nancy Hamilton; her father, Todd S. Larson; and siblings Samuel Larson, Nicholas Larson, James Larson and Skylar Goodhue. She also is survived by her maternal grandparents, Kathleen H. Shields and Donald G. Shields; her paternal grandfather, James A. Larson; aunts Jan Cuneo, Judy Shields and Quyhn Khong; uncles Dake Larson, John Cuneo and Mark Shields; cousins Jack Cuneo, Shoshanah Kreheli, Aaron Larson, David Larson, Andy Mauldin, Matthew Shields and Vivien Khong-Shields. Mackenzie is also survived by step-parents John Goodhue, Mary Seufert, and Stephen Rotholz, as well as step-siblings Caitlin Goodhue, Kya Goodhue, Erich Seufert, Josef Seufert, Kimee Seufert, Joshua Rotholz and Celeste Rotholz.

Kenzie loved her family, friends, animals, the mountains, the beach and science. Since 7th grade she had planned to be a heart surgeon.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 3 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Boulder. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Heart Association.
