Green will be the color of choice on campus, in the city, and across the state on Fridays throughout the year.
Along with Colorado State University President Tony Frank and Fort Collins Mayor Karen Weitkunat, ASCSU President Eric Berlinberg is asking Ram fans to Get Your Green On in a campaign aimed at boosting school spirit."
In the recent campaign, students are being asked to wear their green and gold every Friday throughout the school year.
“We thought this would be a great way to encourage people to show their Ram pride and display their colors every week,” says Gary Ozzello, CSU’s senior associate director of athletics. “We want people to support not just athletics but the entire University. We always see people wearing green and gold at athletic events, but we want them to wear their colors throughout the week – and particularly on Fridays.”
While the campaign is intended to strengthen the bond between CSU and the community, having support from the students is an important component.
“We are very excited about ASCSU’s support in this project,” Ozzello says. “Building school spirit was one of Eric Berlinberg’s campaign platforms, and we have been working with him and Vice President Rachel Roberson to support Get Your Green On."
The campaign features a Ram Fan of the Week competition, with fans encouraged to submit pictures via e-mail illustrating their green and gold pride. Winning entries will receive game tickets and concession coupons for upcoming games.
Weekly winners automatically qualify for a Ram Fan of the Year drawing that includes a grand prize of personalized gear, tickets to the Mountain West tournament, and tailgating spot in Ram Town at Hughes Stadium.
CSU will also sponsor Get Your Green On days at retail outlets, where CAM the Ram, the CSU cheer squad, and various coaches will be on hand to greet fans. Drawings for tickets, game apparel, and a free tailgate in Ram Town will be held.
