Colorado State University and the Lory Student Center announce another year of safe, family-oriented trick-or-treating for the CSU and Fort Collins communities.

On Oct. 31 from 3 to 5 p.m., more than 20 Lory Student Center offices will offer candy to trick-or-treaters in the spirit of Halloween. The event, entitled “Decades of Scares,” (in honor of the LSC's 50th anniversary) is free and open to the public.

Campus social center

“The Lory Student Center is not only central to our student’s lives, but it is also a social center for the Colorado State University campus and community,” said Anthony Pang, assistant director of the Lory Student Center.

Period movie stars, video games

Offices were assigned a decade from the 1960s through the 2000s, spanning the 50 years the student center has been the center of student life at CSU.  From ’60s movie stars to ’90s video games, each office will have a unique experience for CSU students and visitors to enjoy.

“We are excited to have the offices and departments within the LSC celebrate the Halloween theme of decades, and to continue our relationship with the surrounding community,” said Pang.

Cast a vote for best décor

In addition to receiving candy, visitors can cast a vote for the best decorated office. “Decades of Scares” doubles as a Lory Student Center décor design contest.

CSU students and trick-or-treaters have the power to vote for the “best-dressed” office and decide the “People’s Choice” award winner, which is determined by the office with the most community votes.

Individuals can vote by turning in their trick-or-treating map, which doubles as a ballot, to a voting box in a participating office, or vote online starting October 29 (Offices will be decorated for the entire week, so come by and check them out).

Since 2005, the Lory Student Center has offered CSU families a fun and safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating. The only thing scary at this event is the monstrous ’80s hair!
