At the Lagoon Concert on Wednesday, July 28, audiences will discover that an old favorite is performing! The members of the Mark Sloniker Group combine their talents to produce both instrumental and vocal music that crosses many genres, including jazz, folk, and rock.
Mark Sloniker's piano recordings have reached the 'top six' of three national radio play charts.
The Mark Sloniker Group will perform at Colorado State University's Wednesday, July 28 Lagoon Summer Concert Series.
Mark Sloniker is a Colorado State alumnus with a degree in music therapy. You get a glimpse of CSU alumnus Mark Sloniker's sparkle and sense of fun when you hear the story of how he started playing the piano.
Mark's grandfather worked for the Baldwin Piano Company, so there was an upright piano in the corner of the family's living room. Every night at bedtime, Mark says, his mother would "call the fire fighters over to the house with their 'jaws of life' extraction tool to separate me from the piano and get me to bed."
In his professional career, Mark has played and recorded in the U.S. and abroad in piano performances, jazz/trio/quartets, and symphony concerts. Many of Mark's recordings have made their way to national sales and airplay lists.
Lead vocalist Colleen Crosson's voice has been described as "deep and true, real and easy, and altogether delicious!"
The Mark Sloniker Group will perform music crossing several genres, including jazz, folk, and rock. Audiences will enjoy the group's witty, intelligent lyrics and soulful style.
