Ask Cam

A question of portability

July 23, 2010

Question:

Cam, my family loves attending the Lagoon concerts. Can you tell me why they don’t have any restrooms (port-a-potties) during the concerts? Also, it would be nice if there were some food vendors at the concerts. Thanks.

Cam’s answer:

Glad you like the concerts! I’ve been rocking my wooly hide this summer at the Lagoon myself. Great music, great times.

I asked my good friend Connie Hanrahan, CSU alumna and organizer of the Lagoon Summer Concert Series, about food vendors, and she said University policy doesn’t allow vendors on the premises. But feel free to bring your own picnic basket full of your favorite concert cuisine! (My own picnic basket is the lawn itself.)

As for portable toilets, Connie says: “We rely on sponsorships to cover our needs at the Lagoon – unfortunately we don’t have a sponsor to cover portable toilets, so we urge everyone to use restrooms in the Lory Student Center.

“All money raised to present Lagoon concerts is put back into the program. Portable toilets would cost us $2,500 for six weeks, so if anyone knows of a sponsor to cover port-a-potty costs, we’d be thrilled!”

Here’s to happy hoofin’!
