About Mardi Gras

A collection ofcarnival celebrations held the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent and occurs 40 days before Easter.

From the French term "Mardi Gras" translates to "Fat Tuesday." The term has come to mean the whole period of activities related to the celebration and not just a single day.
